Nutrition counseling

Nutrition counseling built around your kitchen

Hermelinda is a licensed dietitian/nutritionist. She helps you plan what to eat around your own schedule, budget and preferences.

Nutrition counseling here is a conversation, not a rulebook. Hermelinda asks what you eat in a normal week and what gets in the way, then writes a short plan with a few small steps. She works alongside your doctor and the other providers here, with your written permission.

Who usually comes

  • People who want help planning meals for a busy week

  • People whose doctor suggested talking to a dietitian

  • People who cook for a family with different needs

  • People who feel confused by conflicting food advice

What a visit is like

From the door to the plan

  1. 01

    Step 1: The conversation

About 30 minutes about what you eat in a normal week, who you cook for, your budget and what gets in the way.

  2. 02

    Step 2: The review

Hermelinda looks at what you shared, along with anything your doctor has asked you to watch.

  3. 03

    Step 3: The plan

A short written plan with a few small steps, in your own words and with foods you already like.

  4. 04

    Step 4: The next step

A follow-up visit of about 30 minutes to see how the plan fits your week and to adjust it. First visits take about 60 minutes.

Good to know

Before and after your visit

  • What you may feel afterward

Most people leave with a short list and a few ideas for the week. Changing how you eat takes time, so the plan starts small and changes as you go.

  • Tell us first

Say any of these when you book, and again at the visit.

    • A health condition your doctor manages, and the medicines you take

    • Food allergies, intolerances or foods you avoid for any reason

    • A history of disordered eating, so we can plan carefully

    • Pregnancy, or plans to become pregnant

    • Who you cook for and what your budget is

  • How many visits

Many people come every few weeks at first, then less often. Hermelinda suggests a rhythm with you, and it is your call.

  • What it doesn't do, and when to see a doctor

Nutrition counseling doesn't diagnose or treat a disease, and it doesn't replace your doctor's care. Talk with your doctor before a big change to your diet or supplements, especially if you take medicine or are pregnant.
